Kubota has launched WorkSmart Autosteer, a precision guidance system designed to bring automated steering to selected compact and utility tractors, mowers and utility vehicles.
The system works like an autopilot, keeping the machine on a defined path while the operator remains in control. Kubota says the technology is designed to reduce operator fatigue and steering errors while improving consistency across field and grounds-management operations.
WorkSmart Autosteer can be used for seeding and planting, tillage and cultivation, hay production, spraying and spreading, mowing, road grading, and orchard and vineyard work.
Model-Specific Guidance
Many precision guidance systems have traditionally been developed for large row-crop tractors and supplied as aftermarket kits. Kubota has taken a different approach with WorkSmart Autosteer, engineering the system for the specific equipment model on which it is installed.
The system is available for selected Kubota tractors, mowers and RTV utility vehicles and can be fitted to both new and used equipment. It operates through the WorkSmart Autosteer app, which is available for iOS and Android devices.
Authorised Kubota dealers can install the system in approximately two hours and provide operator training and support.
Two Accuracy Options
WorkSmart Autosteer is available with two positioning correction options.
- SBAS (WAAS): Provides 6–8 inches of repeatable pass-to-pass accuracy without a subscription.
- PPP: Provides accuracy of up to 1 inch for applications requiring tighter guidance. The service is available through an annual subscription.
The system integrates with Kubota’s operator interface and is designed to maintain consistent guidance throughout field operations.
Applications Beyond Row Crops
The technology extends precision guidance to equipment and applications where automated steering has traditionally been less common.
For agricultural operations, more consistent passes can help reduce overlap during planting, spraying, spreading and tillage. In hay and turf operations, the same guidance capability can help operators maintain consistent working patterns and reduce the physical demands of steering over long periods.
WorkSmart Autosteer is also intended for applications such as road grading and orchard and vineyard work, where maintaining accurate and repeatable paths can improve operational consistency.
Availability and Cost
WorkSmart Autosteer is now available through authorised Kubota dealers. The system has a starting MSRP of $6,000, excluding installation, taxes and subscription costs.
The PPP correction service is available for an annual subscription of $1,250. The system is backed by a two-year limited warranty.
Kubota says the technology is intended to make precision guidance more accessible to farmers, ranchers, contractors and turf professionals using compact and utility equipment.
