The organisers of Macfrut 2025, the leading international trade fair for the fruit and vegetable supply chain, are ramping up global outreach in the months leading up to the event, which will take place from May 6-8, 2025, at the Rimini Expo Centre. As part of their promotional campaign that started last summer, Macfrut has been holding international presentations in both EU and non-EU countries, with delegations playing a central role in events worldwide.
Since June 2024, just weeks after the previous edition, Macfrut has been strengthening ties with industry leaders on three continents. These international missions aim to foster stronger relationships and open up new business opportunities, solidifying Macfrut’s position as an increasingly global event.
In Africa, Macfrut has made significant strides in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), which participated in Macfrut 2024 with 20 exhibitors. The DRC, where 60% of food is imported, is eager to develop its agricultural sector to meet the growing demands of its expanding population. Local authorities and professionals have shown growing interest in the opportunities Macfrut offers. Tunisia also hosted a series of meetings with producer organizations and institutions, reinforcing the North African nation’s participation in Macfrut 2025 with a joint stand.
In Europe, Macfrut engaged with producer organizations, local authorities, and universities in the Serbian province of Vojvodina and Bosnia and Herzegovina, where apple growing, horticulture, and soft fruit production are key industries. Bosnia and Herzegovina, a regular participant in Macfrut, is focused on increasing visitor and exhibitor numbers from the region. Macfrut also extended its reach to Latin America, with delegations visiting Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires, and the Patagonia region, where authorities confirmed Argentina’s participation in Macfrut 2025. In Peru, Macfrut held a presentation with leading industry professionals and institutions at the University of Piura.
The promotional efforts will continue through February with presentations in Warsaw (Poland), Bogotá (Colombia), Brazzaville and Kinshasa (DRC), Nairobi (Kenya), and Baku (Azerbaijan). March will see additional missions aimed at attracting buyers in Brussels (Belgium), Rotterdam (Netherlands), São Paulo (Brazil), and Dubai.
Macfrut 2025 promises to be the largest edition yet, with more than 90% of available exhibition space already sold by December 2024. Notably, global industry giants such as Chiquita and Del Monte, along with major Spanish exporters in the berry industry, will be joining the event.
Renzo Piraccini, President of Macfrut, emphasized the value of this format for exhibitors: “Macfrut offers not just exhibition space but a comprehensive platform with a dedicated team for scheduling appointments. This allows exhibitors to plan ahead and focus on the content of their displays, making the most of this unique opportunity.”
