FPT Industrial’s XCURSOR 13 Wins Inaugural Alternative Engine Award, Leading the Way for the Future of Internal Combustion Engines
FPT Industrial proudly claims the first-ever Alternative Engine Award for its innovative XCURSOR 13, selected by the jury for its outstanding representation of a forward-thinking vision for the future of mobility. The award, presented by Powertrain International magazine, celebrates the crucial role of internal combustion engines in the ongoing journey toward decarbonization. The prestigious ceremony took place at the recent EIMA exhibition in Bologna, Italy.
This inaugural award aims to highlight the importance of versatility in internal combustion engines, particularly their ability to adapt to various fuel types. These essential traits are key for engines to remain relevant and effective in addressing the emissions challenges of the future. The XCURSOR 13 stands out for its ability to run on a broad range of fuels—from diesel and natural gas to biomethane, hydrogen, and renewable fuels—making it a central player in FPT Industrial’s decarbonization efforts.
Designed as a multi-fuel engine, the XCURSOR 13 offers the flexibility to meet a variety of market needs, making it an essential component in achieving CO2 emissions reduction targets. This aligns with FPT’s broader multi-energy approach, providing its customers with highly adaptable, ready-to-install products for different vehicle types and installations.
Built on a robust 13-liter engine architecture, the XCURSOR 13 balances high performance with lower weight, improved fuel efficiency, extended durability, and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO). It’s designed to meet current and future CO2 regulations, covering both on-road and off-road applications across multiple segments.
Daniele Pozzo, Head of Marketing & Product Management at FPT Industrial, shared, “Winning the first Alternative Engine Award affirms that our multi-energy approach is the right path forward. The XCURSOR 13 is a critical element in this strategy, offering multi-fuel versatility and positioning itself as a leader in both on-road and off-road markets. The continuous development and enhancement of this engine ensure it will remain a key player in the future, ready to adapt to evolving market demands.”
Fabio Butturi, Editor at Powertrain International, remarked, “It’s no surprise that FPT Industrial received this inaugural award. Their history of pioneering natural gas technology and their multi-fuel vision with the CURSOR X laid the foundation for the XCURSOR 13. Featuring a shared crankcase and many interchangeable components, this engine optimally supports applications using diesel, CNG, or hydrogen, depending on specific requirements.”
