Case IH Puma 185 Tractor Debuts in Ireland

Case IH Introduces Puma 185 Tractor to Ireland with Advanced CVXDrive Technology

Case IH is bringing its updated Puma 185 tractor to Ireland, combining continuously variable transmission (CVT) technology, enhanced operator comfort and precision farming capabilities to meet the demands of modern agricultural contractors and mixed farming operations.

Designed for demanding fieldwork, transport duties and livestock farming applications, the Puma 185 focuses on delivering flexible power, improved manoeuvrability and greater operational efficiency.

Advanced Transmission and Improved Manoeuvrability

The Puma range includes models rated at 155, 165 and 185 hp, with the Puma 185 featuring Case IH’s CVXDrive continuously variable transmission.

The transmission provides stepless speed control, allowing operators to adjust ground speed according to field conditions and implement requirements. This flexibility is particularly useful for applications such as slurry spreading, baling, soil preparation and other PTO-driven operations where consistent power delivery and precise speed management are essential.

The tractor also features a redesigned front axle assembly, delivering a turning radius of 11.4 metres to improve manoeuvrability in farmyards, headlands and confined working areas.

Front axle suspension, combined with mechanical cab suspension, is designed to improve operator comfort and reduce vibration when travelling across uneven terrain or transporting equipment on rural roads.

Improved Cab Comfort and Precision Farming Technology

The updated Puma 185 features a redesigned cab with revised console controls to improve access to key operating functions.

The updated layout brings hydraulic flow settings, linkage management and steering controls together, helping operators manage multiple functions more efficiently during extended working periods.

Precision farming technology further enhances the tractor’s capabilities through integrated guidance, telemetry and implement management systems. Operators can monitor operating data, manage application settings and control compatible implements directly from the cab.

These technologies can help improve field accuracy, minimise overlapping applications and reduce unnecessary input use.

For high-hour farming and contracting operations, the Puma 185 also offers extended engine maintenance intervals, with engine oil and filter changes scheduled every 750 operating hours.

Case IH to Showcase Puma 185 at FTMTA Farm Machinery Show

Case IH will present the Puma 185 at the Farm Tractor and Machinery Trade Association (FTMTA) Farm Machinery Show, taking place at the Punchestown Event Centre in County Kildare, Ireland, from 17 to 19 November 2026.

The manufacturer plans to showcase six agricultural machines aimed at livestock producers, mixed farming businesses and professional agricultural contractors.

The exhibition line-up will include:

Farmall A and Farmall M utility tractors.
Maxxum 150 tractor.
Puma 185 tractor.
Puma 260 high-horsepower tractor.
Farmlift 742 telehandler.

The display will highlight Case IH’s equipment offering across different agricultural applications, from general farm work and livestock operations to higher-capacity fieldwork and material handling.

Supporting Efficiency in Modern Agriculture

The 150–200 hp tractor segment remains important for European agriculture, offering a balance between engine power, implement compatibility, transport capability and manoeuvrability.

Within this category, continuously variable transmissions compete with powershift and semi-powershift systems. While powershift transmissions are well suited to applications involving sustained high-draft loads, CVT technology offers greater flexibility when operators need to adjust travel speed while maintaining suitable engine speeds for PTO-driven implements.

Precision farming technology and implement compatibility are also becoming increasingly important. Systems supporting ISOBUS communication allow compatible implements, including sprayers, seeders and balers, to communicate with tractor-based control terminals, helping simplify operation and improve equipment integration.

With its CVXDrive transmission, updated cab design and integrated precision farming capabilities, the Case IH Puma 185 is positioned to support the changing requirements of agricultural contractors and mixed farming businesses.

Its Irish debut at the FTMTA Farm Machinery Show will provide an opportunity for farmers and contractors to explore the latest developments in the Puma range alongside other Case IH machinery.
