Sudan launches massive livestock vaccination campaign

The livestock vaccination campaign in South Darfur comes with the support of the US Agency for Development and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and aims to organize large-scale vaccination for livestock in South Darfur.

Field observer for FAO in South Darfur, Musa Sabt, stated that the livestock vaccination campaign will be organized in the localities of Bilil, Salam, and Ntiga.

Sabt revealed that the campaigns activities will include vaccination, treatment, fodder provision, and will target the most vulnerable families and those who work in both farming and herding.

The field observer told SUNA, on Saturday, that they aim to vaccinate about 750,000 heads through the “Chitbox” and “BPR” vaccines.

He noted that there will be training targeting 300 people, on minor diseases affecting livestock and how to manage their livestock in different regions, and pointed out that the training operations were launched in the Arbi’aa Jimmayzah area.

The livestock vaccination operations kicked off in the locality of Netika and the “Alban Jadeed” area, northeast of the state capital Nyala.
