New Guide Empowers African Farmers to Profit from Carbon Removal

Biochar IQ, a South African company promoting sustainable carbon solutions, has released the Carbon Removal Equipment & Suppliers Guide – South Africa 2025 — a free eBook designed to help African farmers and agribusinesses lead in climate-smart agriculture.

As climate change, soil degradation, and market instability threaten African agriculture, the guide outlines six key carbon removal methods — including biochar, enhanced rock weathering, and regenerative farming — that can improve soil health, increase yields, and unlock access to carbon markets.

“Many farmers already have what they need to turn crop waste into profitable biochar while restoring their land,” says Keith Thompson, lead author. “This guide offers practical, African-focused steps and supplier contacts to help them begin.”

The guide also includes expert insights and case studies, such as projects converting invasive plants into biochar and building long-term soil carbon.

Farmers, agribusinesses, and policymakers are encouraged to download the guide for free and explore how carbon removal can boost both sustainability and income across the continent.
