John Deere Expands Frontier Rotary Cutter Range to Support Modern Farm Mechanisation

Responding to this need, John Deere has expanded its Frontier™ equipment range with the introduction of the new FC50 Series Flex Wing Rotary Cutters, offering farmers and agricultural contractors durable solutions for vegetation management across large farming operations.
Available in 10-foot and 12-foot working widths, the FC50 Series has been developed for use with John Deere 4 Series and 5E3 Series tractors, making the equipment suitable for pasture management, crop residue control, orchard maintenance, roadside vegetation management and land clearing.
For African livestock producers, commercial farms and mixed farming operations, efficient rotary cutters play an important role in maintaining grazing lands, controlling invasive vegetation and preparing fields for the next planting season while reducing labour requirements.
The FC50 Series features a 25-degree rotating drawbar hitch, allowing the cutter to follow uneven terrain more effectively while improving manoeuvrability in the field. The G8 constant velocity axle is rated to handle tractors producing up to 175 horsepower, while each wing is capable of transmitting 90 horsepower, ensuring reliable performance under demanding operating conditions.
Built for long service life, the cutters incorporate a ¾-inch reinforced steel gearbox plate, durable nylon bushings and magnetic gearbox closures that help reduce vibration and minimise wear. Replaceable skid shoes simplify maintenance, while adjustable suspension reduces shock loads during both transport and field operation.
Operators can also adjust cutting height and rake to suit different field conditions, with a choice of pneumatic or laminated tyres depending on terrain and application.
The machines are manufactured using advanced production technologies, including precision laser cutting and robotic fabrication, before undergoing extensive laboratory and field testing to ensure long-term durability.
